Loqules x Haydenshapes

If you haven’t been able to tell already, we really like our surfing here at Loqules so when we had the opportunity to have Hayden Cox of Haydenshapes offer an experience on Loqules we were pretty stoked. We’ve been friends with Hayden and his wife Danielle for years now, but for those not in the know Hayden’s story is incredibly inspiring, not just from a surfing perspective but an entrepreneurial one too. To put it simply Haydenshapes are currently crushing it, their ‘Hypto Krypto’ was the highest selling board model of 2014 and won ‘Surfboard of the Year’ at the Australian Surf and Board Sports Industry Association for the second year running.

So we sat down with Hayden to pick his brain about how he approaches the business side of Haydenshapes and to also introduce HS team rider and local Bondi shredder, Pama Davies(@pamadavies) to Loqules.

Loqules X Livin

Stoked to announce our first rugby league experience with one of the best 9’s in the game, James ‘Chicko’ Segeyaro(@chicko9). Originally from Papua New Guinea, Chicko moved to Australia at a young age to follow his dream of playing rugby league at a professional level. Currently playing for the Penrith Panthers, Chicko was interested in creating an experience on Loqules that would give fans an unprecedented insight into a players life on game day and also to raise money and awareness for the charity LIVIN. Both Chicko and us at Loqules will be donating the money raised from selling this experience to LIVIN.

We caught up with Chicko to ask him about his experience and why LIVIN is an organisation that is close to his heart.

Top 3 wine bars with Mike Bennie

Mike Bennie (@mikerism101), our resident Wine Guy here at Loqules, is constantly travelling the world’s finest vineyards as a freelance wine and drinks writer, journalist and presenter. He’s an active wine judge in Australia and overseas and a co-founder of the artisan and sustainability-focused Rootstock Sydney food and wine festival.

Mike has a passion for chasing down interesting, unique, boutique, artisan wine producers, focusing on great wines of the world and the loosely-defined category of ‘natural wines’ from biodynamic and organic vineyards. As one of our Loqules, we asked him to give us the scoop on his current top 3 wine bars around the world and what we should try when we visit.

Top 3 places to ride with Kate Peck

Kate Peck (@katepeckme) is a VJ for MTV Australia, model + ambassador for Myer and co-producer/host of ‘A Model Adventure’ on National Geographic People. When she’s not working, you’ll find her fuelling her passion for motorcycle riding, whether riding them, perving on them or reading about them.

As one of our Loqules, she’s offering up the experience to ride hard, fast and free down the southern coal coast of New South Wales. We thought we’d ask her more about her love for riding and have her share her top 3 places to ride around the world.

Top 5 with Ben Player

Ben Player (@ben_player) is a professional bodyboarder from Sydney, Australia and a 3 time World Champion. For the past 20 years he’s been travelling the world, surfing some of the most perfect and gnarly waves that our planet has to offer and although he’s one of the most successful guys in the sport has remained a humble legend.

As one of our Loqules on the platform and a very well travelled dude that still loves to call Sydney home, we thought we’d catch up with him to get his take on some of his favourite things.

Ultimate BOWL-A-RAMA with Corbin Harris

We’re stoked that one of our very first experiences we’re offering Loqules is a collaboration between Vans BOWL-A-RAMA Bondi and professional skater &  TV host Corbin Harris(@corbinharris). Originally from Sydney, Corbin currently resides in Los Angeles where he co-hosts the X Games alongside Tony Hawk and does a bunch of work for NBC too. However having him back in the country for BOWL-A-RAMA, we thought we’d get him involved in an experience that includes a private skate session with him and then VIP access to BOWL-A-RAMA that comes with all the bells and whistles. It’s a pretty rad experience!

So with Corbin back in his hometown and just over a week away until BOWL-A-RAMA, we thought we’d catch up with him and see what he misses the most about Sydney.

Almost Famous with Monte

Michael Tramonte(@monteenwolf) or “Monte” as he is affectionately known to many is a good friend of ours at Loqules and also happens to play bass in awesome Australian rock band The Delta Riggs. He will tell you his official title is “Bass & Backing Vox” and if you’ve ever been to a Riggs show, you will see him harmonising his little heart out. The Delta Riggs are going from strength to strength at the moment, they were just announced on Groovin The Moo, have recently returned from a US tour and are about to head back to the US for SXSW in March but not before opening for the Foo Fighters on their stadium sized national Australian tour.

Monte’s a busy guy but we caught up with him to give us 3 of his favourite tour stories.
